Our Town

Water Main Replacement Update – Don’t worry, we’ll get the roads fixed.  That’s the message from the Albemarle County Service Authority (ACSA) regarding its ongoing effort to replace aging and undersized water main lines around Crozet.

“The asphalt patching that has been completed so far is just temporary patching,” said Justin Weiler, a civil engineer who is managing the project.

“Along Route 250 and Crozet Avenue, the contractor will mill and overlay the travel lane that they disturbed.  Along Hillsboro Lane and in the Parkview neighborhood, the width of the roads will be repaved.   The contractor must finish all the waterline work along a street, including abandoning the old waterlines before the final pavement restoration can be completed,” said Weiler.

ACSA is closely coordinating the project with VDOT, including the temporary patching and final pavement restoration.   For now, work continues along Crozet Avenue until the water main is replaced all the way up to its intersection with Tabor Street.   It is expected that affected roads will be restored to like new condition when the project is completed.

Stockton Creek Bridge Closed - The bridge over Stockton Creek on Patterson Mill Lane will be closed until October 25 for repairs. VDOT crews are replacing the timber deck and steel beams of the 1932 bridge with a concrete structure. Local residents can access their homes via alternate routes: northbound from Rockfish Gap Turnpike and southbound through Burch’s Creek Road or Miller School Road.

Early Voting Has Started - Early voting for the November 2024 General Election in Albemarle County has begun as of Friday, September 20. Voters can cast their ballots in person at the County Office Building on 5th Street, where signage and volunteers will assist with parking and directions. There are three voting options: by mail, early in-person, or at your polling place on Election Day.

Key deadlines include registering by October 15 and applying for mail-in ballots by October 25. Same Day Registration is also available.

Crozet United is here not only to keep you informed, but it is also your platform to celebrate Crozet and the people in it.

Share your good news—like team victories, community cleanups, or any positive updates—with us. Small or big we want to share the good things happening around town.

On The Lighter Side
