Village of Rivanna - At the November 6th Board of Supervisors meeting, Scottsville District Supervisor Mike Pruitt raised the possibility of removing the Village of Rivanna from the County’s “growth areas” due to insufficient planning and infrastructure. If adopted, it’s possible that the County would shift the growth area acreage lost in Mr. Pruitt’s district to another existing growth area (e.g. Crozet). Thanks to Neil Williamson for sharing this update on X.
Beaver Hill Mobile Home Update - Tonight at 7 PM, the Beaver Hill Mobile Home proposal will be presented to the Crozet Community Advisory Committee at the Crozet Library.
The proposal will test whether the County intends to “keep the growth in the growth areas” or whether it will allow a de facto expansion of Crozet’s agreed upon growth area boundary to increase our affordable housing supply rather than through our existing affordable housing policies.
Crozet citizens and engaged leaders will remember a remarkably comparable situation from a couple months ago. In that case, County staff wrote that unless there is a threat to “health and/or safety was in danger”, the Development Area should not be expanded. The County’s full interpretation can be found in bold (theirs) by clicking the blue “Executive Summary” tab at this link.
You can read more background from our September 18 edition [here].
Black Bears Growing Up - Remember back in February when The Wildlife Center of Virginia (just over the mountain) rescued three black bear cubs and nursed them back to health? This great organization was able to rescue a few more and all 7(!) are doing well now.
Crozet United is here not only to keep you informed, but it is also your platform to celebrate Crozet and the people in it.
Share your good news—like team victories, community cleanups, or any positive updates—with us. Small or big we want to share the good things happening around town.
On The Lighter Side
Rockfish Gap, Crozet's neighboring mountain pass through which the Monacan people traveled for generations along their trading path, is well-known locally - but what makes it geographically unique among Blue Ridge Mountain passages? |
