This Week In Crozet (4/2/25)

April 3rd - April 9th

Connecting you to what’s happening around town

Around Town

Albemarle County Budget Town Hall - Albemarle County is hosting a Community Budget Town Hall at Western Albemarle High School on Wednesday, April 9, starting with an open house at 5:30 PM, where attendees can meet department staff and learn about county services and projects.

At 6 PM, the County Executive’s Office will present the recommended FY 2026 budget, covering the revenue outlook and priority initiatives. A Q&A session will follow, allowing residents to ask questions and share concerns, including about the proposed tax rate increase.

Childcare will be provided. This is an opportunity to engage before the budget is finalized in mid-April.

Distilling Opportunity on Nelson 151: Silverback Location Up for Sale - Ever dreamed of running your own distillery? A prime opportunity has opened up along Nelson 151, as the property and distillery at the Silverback Distillery location is now available for sale or lease.

For > $2 million, the 9.02-acre property includes an existing distillery, a tasting room, and a patio with visibility and signage along the busy scenic route. The sale offers the option to purchase existing equipment or an operational business, though the Silverback brand is not included, as the owners are consolidating operations elsewhere.

This listing presents a chance for a new or existing business to establish itself in one of the region’s well-traveled beverage and tourism corridors.

Eagle Scout Project Revitalizes WAHS Outdoor Classroom - After months of planning and hard work, Kai Sensabaugh has officially completed his Eagle Scout project at Western Albemarle High School—pending final approval from the principal. A member of BSA Troop 79 out of Crozet, he took on the task of revitalizing the school’s outdoor amphitheater-style classroom, which had fallen into disrepair.

For his project, he demolished the old, deteriorating benches and replaced them with brand-new seating. He also added a teacher’s podium, installed a border and fresh mulch to define the space, and removed the broken bridge that once crossed the nearby creek. His hope is that WAHS students and teachers will once again use and enjoy this unique outdoor learning area.

Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is the highest achievement in the Boy Scouts of America, requiring leadership, community service, and dedication. Fewer than 10% of Scouts attain this rank, making it a prestigious milestone that demonstrates initiative and perseverance. Kai has certainly embodied these qualities with his project, leaving a lasting impact on his school and community.

Happy studying, WAHS!

Prayer Request - Debbie Orme asks for prayers for her brother-in-law, Mike Fry, and her aunt, Christine Korsum.

Crozet United is here not only to keep you informed, but it is also your platform to celebrate Crozet and the people in it. Share your good news—like team victories, community cleanups, or any positive updates—with us. Send emails to [email protected]
