Crozet Kicks Off Annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program - The holiday season may be winding down, but your Christmas tree’s journey doesn’t have to end just yet! Albemarle County’s Parks and Recreation Department is bringing back the Christmas Tree Recycling Program, running from December 26, 2024, to January 19, 2025. With drop-off locations at Claudius Crozet Park and the Greenwood Community Center—residents have a sustainable option to say goodbye to their holiday greenery.
Before heading to the recycling site, remember to remove all decorations, lights, stands, and nails. And a friendly reminder: this program is exclusively for Christmas trees—no wreaths or yard waste, please!
Your recycled tree will be transformed into mulch, available for free starting January 20, 2025, at Claudius Crozet Park and Darden Towe Park. It’s a win-win: keep trees out of landfills and take home mulch to enhance your garden.
Crozet Square and Oak Street Upgrades Begin January 6 - Construction on the long-awaited Crozet Square and Oak Street Improvements Project kicks off Monday, January 6, 2025. Set to finish within a year, the project will enhance stormwater drainage, ADA accessibility, pedestrian pathways, parking, and traffic flow.
Highlights include a new sidewalk, perpendicular parking, and traffic adjustments, such as a right-turn-only intersection at The Square and Crozet Avenue. Oak Street will gain sidewalks and improved parking.
Construction will occur in five stages to minimize disruptions, with businesses remaining open and accessible throughout. Expect occasional detours and lane closures—follow signage and drive carefully.
Crozet United is here not only to keep you informed, but it is also your platform to celebrate Crozet and the people in it.
Share your good news—like team victories, community cleanups, or any positive updates—with us. Small or big we want to share the good things happening around town.
