Our Town
Once Upon A Find Crozet - Sisters Tori (10) and Kate Butler (12) of Crozet are making a difference with their pop-up shop, Once Upon a Find Crozet, at Mudhouse Coffee. What started as a lemonade stand idea evolved into a store selling lightly used toys and books. The sisters aim to create a space where children can truly play and enjoy their childhood, filling a gap they see in their community. Their next event at the Mudhouse Coffee shop is Sep 29th. You can find their pop-up schedule or shop online on their website.
Ginseng Harvest Season Starts - If you’re like me, you probably didn’t know ginseng harvest season in Virginia kicks off Sept. 1. But before you grab your shovel, be aware that this wild root comes with some serious rules. Only harvest mature plants during the season, and always get permission if you’re on someone else’s land. Break the rules, and you could be facing fines or even jail time! Check out the full guidelines on the VDACS website before heading out.

Virginia’s Beehive Distribution Program is Back! - If you’re buzzing to start beekeeping, the Virginia Beehive Distribution Program is accepting applications for 2024. Open to Virginia residents 18 and up, the program offers free beehive equipment to help you get started. Just apply by Sept. 6, and if you're lucky, you'll be randomly selected to receive a beehive. But remember, you'll need to set it up and introduce your bees within a year. For more details and to apply, visit the VA Beehive Distribution Program website.
Crozet United is here not only to keep you informed, but it is also your platform to celebrate Crozet and the people in it.
