Albemarle Board Shake-Up: New Supervisors Could Shape Crozet’s Future - Albemarle County’s Board of Supervisors will welcome at least two new members in 2026, as Jim Andrews and Diantha McKeel have announced they will not seek re-election. Andrews, who represents the Samuel Miller District, has endorsed Planning Commission Chair Fred Missel as his preferred successor.
Missel, Director of Design and Development at the University of Virginia Foundation, joined the Albemarle County Planning Commission in 2022 after several years on the Architectural Review Board.
In the Jack Jouett District, Sally Duncan and David Shreve are vying for the Democratic nomination to replace McKeel.
Rio District Supervisor Ned Galloway has yet to announce his intentions for the next election cycle.
This turnover could significantly impact Crozet, which sits deep in the White Hall District. Historically, Crozet has needed the support of at least two other supervisors to understand and address its unique concerns. The new board's composition could shape Crozet's future in meaningful ways.

Crozet Vineyards Shine in 2025 Virginia Governor’s Cup - The 2025 Virginia Governor's Cup has crowned its winner, with Barboursville Vineyards taking top honors. Once again, the Monticello American Viticultural Area (AVA) proved its excellence, with three Crozet-area vineyards earning spots in the coveted Governor's Cup Case.
Veritas Vineyards and Winery especially shone with its 2023 Monticello White, King Family Vineyards impressed with its 2021 Mountain Plains Red, and Valley Road Vineyards earned praise for its 2023 Petit Manseng.
The competition saw over 620 entries judged through rigorous blind tastings, further cementing Crozet's area vineyards reputation as a premier destination for wine.

ACPS Appoints Principal for Henley Middle School - The Albemarle County School Board has appointed Rick Vrhovac as principal of Henley Middle School effective immediately.
Vrhovac stepped in as substitute principal at Henley this school year, replacing LaRuth Ensley, and will continue through 2025-26. He previously retired in 2017 after 36 years as a teacher and administrator, including serving as principal at Monticello High School. Superintendent Dr. Matthew Haas praised Vrhovac’s ability to build strong relationships and reinforce Henley’s collaborative culture.
The search for Henley’s next principal will begin in late winter 2025-26.
