-New Location Fiesta Azteca, formerly Enigma Jalisco, recently opened its doors in its new location at the intersection of 240/250 in the old Ivy Roadhouse building.

-Put Our Safety First Make plans with your neighbors to attend the final public hearing for Montclair development on February 21st at 6:00 PM at the County Office Building. 

Albemarle County’s Comprehensive Plan is crystal clear: “Do not approve proposed rezonings outside of [Crozet’s Downtown area] when planned [infrastructure] is not in place to support the project and existing neighborhoods…”.

-Heads up! The Albemarle County Service Authority will soon begin replacing aging and undersized asbestos-cement and PVC water mains along Rockfish Gap Turnpike, Crozet Avenue, Hillsboro Lane, and the neighborhood streets of the Park View subdivision. Contract has been awarded for early 2024 construction to begin.

Western Way

Winter Sports Rolling Along

-Varsity Boys Basketball (14-4): Western handily beat the Mustangs of Monticello 69-49. The Warriors are enjoying a three-game winning streak.

-Varsity Girls Basketball (12-5): The Lady Warriors, also winners of three straight, thrashed Monticello 64-27

-Western Pole Vaulters dominated at the Fred Hardy Invitational. Raina Fitzwater (reigning state champion) and Evie Woodrow took 1st and 2nd place for the girls. Nathan Peterson and Ollie Woodrow went one-two for the boys, clearing 14' for the first time.

-In the first combined swim & dive competition since 2019, the Warriors posted many impressive performances against archrival Albemarle High. Junior Raina Fitzwater led all divers with a 2nd place finish, and swimmers David King, Richard Wang, Brayden King, Jack Hathaway, Lily Phillips, and Grace McCardle all finished first in one or more individual events.

-Crozet United's first Warrior of the Week award goes to Raina Fitzwater, a two-sporter who put together dominating January performances in both diving and vaulting. Way to go, Raina!
