After the parade the Celebration continues at King Family Vineyard! Gates for tailgating and parking around the polo field open promptly at 4:00 PM. Feel free to bring lawn chairs and blankets earlier in the day before you go and enjoy the parade.
Festivities at King Family begin at 5:30 PM
Two bands will be performing at King Family. Chicken Head Blues Band and Ian Gilliam and the FireKings.

The Crozet Chorus will be performing patriotic songs between the two bands.
Traditional American Fourth of July fare will be on hand, including hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, funnel cake, BBQ, and sno-cones. In addition, vegetarian and vegan choices, tacos, and other favorites will be available!
Local beer, Bold Rock Cider, as well as King Family Vineyard wines will also be offered at additional cost.
A variety of kids amusements will also be provided.
Event culminates at 9:30 PM with a stupendous fireworks show. The best view for the fireworks will face the stage if you set up your chairs.
Donations of $5.00 (plus a $0.50 processing fee) are requested for entry. Children 9 and under are free. Come enjoy the celebration regardless of donations but it helps fund next years event.
The Independence Day Celebration can’t happen without volunteers and financial contributions. If you would like to make a contribution to help ensure future events, you can click here. Over $33,000 has already been donated towards the $40,000 goal. Every little bit helps if you are able.
Enjoy the parade, celebration, and fireworks show. It is sure to be the best one yet. Remember to drive safely.

Heilman breaks Phelps’ record, heading to Paris
According to CBS sports, not only did 17-year old Thomas Heilman qualify for two Olympic events last week, he also broke a national age group record held by Michael Phelps for over two decades. Heilman finished the 100M butterfly in 50.80, a cool 0.30 seconds faster than Phelps did in 2003.

When exactly did the County destroy the Project Heron documents?
In last week’s issue, we reported that Albemarle County admitted that it had destroyed documents related to Project Heron. Since then, we’ve learned that the County failed to file the RM-3 form required by the Library of Virginia before public records are destroyed.
We’ve now uncovered more details about the unusual way that Albemarle County handled these Project Heron documents.
Akin to the Library of Congress, the Library of Virginia is the archival agency and reference library for the Commonwealth. It is located in Richmond.
Did you know how the magnificent Crozet Library got built? It is an amazing story that inspires confidence in Crozet's enduring spirit and ability to make things happen the right way. You can listen to Bill Schrader discuss the challenges of making this happen, the obstacles that needed to be overcome, and what it was like to finally walk inside the finished library we have today.
