Crozet Sports has a few $30 spots left in their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes this weekend. Geared to kids in grades K-5, this class focuses on teaching self defense, how to make friends, and teamwork. Our Town
Off To A Good Start! Mick Armstrong and Auggie Watson each hit a homerun for the Crozet Summit 8U Baseball team as it went on to win the Mound Madness Tournament in Richmond on Sunday, 3/17. Crozet Summit is undefeated for the season (6-0) will travel to Richmond to play again in April.
Get Growing! Gardeners of all ages are invited to take part in this year’s Albemarle County Fair by competing to see who can grow the tallest and largest sunflowers. Prizes will be awarded in four age classes: 8 and under, 9 to 13, 14-18, and adult. The time to get started is NOW.
To ensure a level playing field, all entrants must plant the same seeds which are available free of charge (courtesy of Piedmont Master Gardeners) at the 1500 Gordon Avenue Library in Charlottesville during its hours of operation. The library can be reached at 434-296-5544 if you have questions.
Western Way
WAHS News and Notes
Soccer
Varsity and junior varsity squads beat Louisa by a combined score of 16-0. Both games were called early (‘mercy rule’).
The varsity boys eeked out a win over Deep Run 1-0.
Lacrosse
The girls trounced Salem 17-4. Annie Alhusen and Reeve Goldstein led the offensive onslaught with 3 goals apiece.
Tennis
In their first official action of the season, the Lady Warriors defeated Glen Allen 7 matches to 2.
Baseball
Though the boys dropped a close game to Spotswood, freshman Jack Parkins cracked one over the left field wall for his first varsity home run.
The team came back strong a few days later vs. Harrisonburg, winning by a whopping 14 runs. Senior Ezra Andres tied two single-game Western records with 3 doubles and 6 runs batted in.
Crozet United’s Warrior of the Week is senior Lily Anderson, who impressively redesigned Western’s school crest. Check it out!
