Want your event listed? Send us an email with the details. Basic event listings go for as low as $15 (non-profits are often listed at no charge). Lastly, this is a static newsletter, but life isn’t. Check to make sure the event is still happening before loading up your family of 7 for the trip.

Fireworks ON the 4th

While there is no beating Crozet’s 4th of July celebration, many of us want to keep the good times rolling, especially on the actual holiday. For more explosively good times, check out these spots in the greater Crozet area. All other amateur pyrotechnicians, please be safe out there, especially around the littlest ones in our community.

Our Town

County to begin charging for a charge - More residents ‘go electric’ every day. Here’s an article that addresses a coming shift in free charging stations around the county.

Western Fire and Rescue delivers - For many of us, there is no worse nightmare than encountering and being bitten by a snake. Thank goodness Crozet adventurers can count on our brave and skilled service providers when the unthinkable occurs.

New Development At Old Trail - Land is being cleared across from the Brownsville Market for a new block of homes in Old Trail. According to the drawing shown below, the new section will have 62 new units that will be accessed by Old Trail drive.

Project Heron – The County has responded to the two questions Crozet United posed last week. As shown in the email below, the County reports that the last discussion with Riverbend Development on "Project Heron” was November 30, 2023 and that they destroyed the Collins Engineering document on December 28, 2023.

Crozet United is validating this information and has reached out to Jim Andrews, Chair of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, to propose a collaborative and independent review of Project Heron to ensure the County is following its own policies and is being 100% transparent with Crozet citizens.

The review would primarily document whether County’s actions on Project Heron were in compliance with the Virginia Procurement Act, the Virginia Public Records Act, the Virginia Public Private Transportation Act, among other issues related to the destruction of public records and the appearance of a quid pro quo with Riverbend Development.

We will provide more information in the coming week(s).

County Attorney Retires – Albemarle County Attorney, Steven Rosenberg, announced that he will resign at the end of August following two years of service to the County.

Crozet sure knows how to celebrate!

June 29th was quite a day in good ole Crozet. The whole town turned out to celebrate early so that we could all celebrate often as we approach the 4th.

Though temps were extreme, the annual parade went off without a hitch. The change in venue for the fireworks display and associated frivolity from Crozet Park to King Family Vineyard was a success as the sun set and the day cooled. As with any “first attempt,” some fine-tuning on egress from such a popular affair may be something that organizers, the venue, and supporting authorities discuss.
